There are many aspects to monitoring the SAP landscape. Typically, several people are involved in these activities, using different tools to gather data and analyze it: manual code reviews, a tool to organize transports and support change management processes, system checks (SAP’s Security Optimization Service, for instance), your own custom-code that does additional checks, SAP BO GRC Access Control, and so on.

The tools often work for single systems only, so you create many reports that need to be evaluated manually. Some tools cannot be customized (like the SAP Security Optimization Service), and the tools create reports in different formats (PDF files, online reports, Excel sheets, …). So you end up with a lot of data, and what you really want is a “Security Intelligence” solution or a “search engine for security issues” that can be customized, makes sense out of all this data and help you to answer the questions about your system security.
